Post-Wedding Photography in Ipoh

We are back from Ipoh. What a blast we have there!

It was planned as a discovery trip with some photography along the way and to try out some of the renowned Ipoh food.

So what we didn’t expect is, we’ve spent much much much more time eating that planned. Other than photographing, we were eating and drinking. There are just too much nice stuff to eat there.

That aside, we also had so much fun photographing with Stephen and Chloe and they also brought us around Ipoh. We went with no concrete plans on the photography. It was ‘anything goes’ to the extent that we had Chloe in cheong sum while Stephen was in smart casual. Well, there are no rules to fun and enjoyment right?

So here you go, a very quick edit. :)

What The Haze!

Everyone’s seeing, smelling and hearing about the bad haze that is going in Singapore.

We were a little apprehensive with going on with any photography in the outdoor locations but we decided to push on in the end. Incidentally, the PSI hit above 200 points in between this outdoor shooting session and the whole place turned even more mystical.

After getting the shots that we had originally planned for, we decided to go a little out of context to get some masked shots just for some fun. Not that much of the wedding type of shots but hey, it’s not always normal to wear a mask unless in such hazy circumstances right?

So here you go, 2 shots from the set. :)

Happy Fathers’ Day

It’s the day to commend the efforts of all fathers again.

We as wedding photographers get to meet the fathers of the different bride and grooms all the time. Some are quiet and solemn, often offering silent support to their child who is getting married. They come upon to help when needed and stay in the background in other times. Some are jovial and happy, lending the wedding day much joy and laughter.

Being Asians, I believe we are more apprehensive to express our emotions and gratitude to our elders. However, emotions tend to flow better on during the thank you speeches at wedding banquets. That is where we know a little more of the couples’ fathers and how they have played a big role in their lives. Tears and emotions may flow sometimes. It is also through wedding photography that we get to immortalize these moments which made our makes what we do much more valuable.

Though it should be this good every other day, but on this official Fathers’ Day, we would like to just give a shout out to all the daddies that you are a awesome in your own way.

Happy Fathers’ Day!

Actual Day Wedding of Disheng & Kumiko

Finally, the mid year peak wedding period is here again. We kick started it with a wonderful morning at Swissotel shooting for Disheng and Kumiko’s first leg of their 2 part wedding in Singapore, with their next leg of wedding in Japan.

We got to know how they knew each other through their bosses who actually flew in from Tokyo and Sydney just to attend their celebration. It was a casual introduction that they made and they never knew Disheng and Kumiko’s relationship will go as far as marriage. Now talk about fate.

A rare late start at 8am is definitely a great treat for us and their super nice families and friends made it so much a great photography experience. An interesting gate crashing session (specially planned by the bride herself) sure brought quite a bit of laughter. A short outdoor photography session with their wedding entourage with our CBD skyline as a backdrop should add a nice Singaporean touch when she shows the wedding photos to her folks in Japan. Also a cheerful traditional tea ceremony to end the morning’s activity made it all so awesome.

Here are some sneak peeks to their first part of their Singapore’s wedding.

Bye Bye Singapore and Hello Tokyo

We’ll be out of Singapore till 8 April 2013 and might not be able to take calls. We’ll still be able to reply emails (info@topphotography.com.sg) and whatsapp though.

Where are we going? To the Land of the Rising Sun, Japan.

This trip had been planned for quite a while and we had been looking forward to it. We’ve been there for holidays for our past trips but this time, we are having a couple with us for a bridal overseas pre-wedding shoot. Pretty exciting as it’ll be our inaugural bridal shoot in Tokyo city.

News of the early blooming sakura in Tokyo did seem worrying at first, prompting us that we might be missing the full bloom season. However, we’ve decided to take it in stride and we’ll just make the best out of the season to shoot (with or without the sakura blooms).

We’ll try to share some images when we have opportunities there ok.

Meanwhile, bye bye Singapore and Hello Tokyo!

Let’s do the limbo rock!

One of the challenging stunt that grooms and groomsmen have to face during gatecrash sessions sometimes.

While some see an imminent futile attempt and decided to cheat or bash their way through, others still give it a try.

Our advice is, no harm trying and do it in style. You might just entertain and impress everyone. :)

Valentine’s Day

In the mood of Post-Valentine’s Day? Here’s one shot with some ‘BIG Love’!

To some, Valentine’s day is just another day that flowers and set meals are sold at multiples of their usual price. Some couples decided that it is the best day to say their wedding vows to spend their lives together as man and wife. Many others might have attempted their marriage proposal to their partners.

We came across one of our peers whom we had lunch with yestherday (V-Day). We talked about work, life and love and what we will be doing on Valentine’s day’s evening. Our peer got flustered and told us that she was suspecting that one of her long time friend who might be proposing to her to be his girlfriend. We have not followed up on whether that really happened, but we certainly hope it all went awesome for them.

So how did you spend your Valentine’s Day?

Happy Lunar New Year!

A year had passed again and it’s time for one of the most important traditional holidays for us Chinese again.

Though we do not have festive moods as strong the other Chinese based countries, we still have plenty of bak kwa, pineapple tarts, love letters and all the sinful stuff to indulge in. So eat, drink, be merry and worry about the weight later!

To our past couples…Too bad, no more ang pow for you and time to give some.

No matter how, we at TOP Photography would like to wish you a Happy Chinese New Year! Joy, health and wealth to everyone! ;) For our non chinese friends, hope you will enjoy the break too.

A Teacher’s Wedding

We have this impression that many lady teachers of our days like to put their hands on their waists when to show the class that they are meaning business. We wonder if it still is today. Maybe this image of the bride (also a teacher) can answer that.

* This photo was taken before the 2nd march when there was a quick discussion among the folks.
